Advanced Concepts in Practical Strength Training for Athletes

Overview of 2SP Sports Performance: 2SP is a comprehensive sports performance and training center in Madison Heights, MI with a focus of preparing athletes for the demands of sport activities. Our coaching staff takes pride in designing individualized, sport specific, performance development programs for individuals and teams ranging from amateur to professional. 2SP’s dedication to providing every athlete with high level, complete sports training has allowed it to become one of the premiere athletic training facilities in southeastern Michigan.

Expectations and Commitment: At 2SP, we view our interns as integral parts of our coaching team. Although you may only be with us for a short duration, you are nonetheless valued by the other coaches and staff. We want to teach you the “hands on” part of performance training many formal educational programs miss so that you have a sense of confidence in your abilities wherever your career takes you. Furthermore, we want you to be part of our network even after your time here is complete so that we can serve as a reference for you well into the future. What can be expected if accepted into the internship program:

  • How to integrate organizational methods for individual, group and team training environments.
  • Progressive strength training program design scaled to the individual capabilities of the clients and groups. Effectively communicate progress to supervisors at specific intervals.
  • How to actively coach athletes through dynamic warm-ups and mobility exercises.
  • Development and implementation of speed and agility programs with proven plyometric and force production exercises.
  • Be involved in weekly educational staff in-services that highlight various S&C topics.
  • Get hands on, practical strength and conditioning experience while learning how to adapt and be proactive in program execution.
  • Regular one-on-one meetings with the Head Strength Coach intended to provide an open format for discussions, performance feedback and evaluations.

Qualifications: Candidates should have an advanced foundational understanding of bio-mechanics and anatomy. Preferred are majors in exercise or movement science, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Certified Coaches, Kinesiology majors. Must be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified prior to beginning responsibilities. Accepted interns should be able to commit to no fewer than 25 hours each week throughout the entire term of the program.

Compensation: College Credit as applicable with prior approval. Interns residing outside of the area may be eligible for a one-time $250.00 per diem to assist with transportation expenses.

Internship Schedule:
January 1 – April 30 – Application Deadline: December 1
June 1 – August 31 – Application Deadline: April 15
September 1 – December 31 (4 Positions) – Application Deadline: August 1

Marketing and Management of Sports Performance Institutions

Expectations and Commitment: At 2SP, we view our interns as integral parts of our business management team. Although you may only be with us for a short duration, you are nonetheless valued by the staff and performance coaches. We want to teach you the pragmatic part of managing and promoting a performance training facility to complement your formal educational program. Furthermore, we want you to be part of our network even after your time here is complete so that we can serve as a reference for you well into the future. We provide Regular one-on-one meetings with the Business Manager will take place in order to provide the intern with an open format for discussions and performance feedback.

If accepted into the internship program here is what we want to teach you:

  • How to integrate both standard and unique marketing strategies into successfully marketing a sports performance facility.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritizing various business-related tasks.
  • Social media, Website, and cross-media content management.
  • Business records and performance report maintenance.
  • Creative contribution to discussions on new programs and business administration procedures.
  • Facility supervision and awareness (dangers and risks).
